Shirley Brown
Strategic Director

Extensive brand experience through International Marketing Manager roles with Nike and with a number of high-profile brands with Sponge. Shirley understands the commercial needs of clients along with the communication needs of consumers.

She brings strategic rigor to the planning process and is highly skilled in translating insights into inspiring themes that guide the creative expression across all channels. 

Recent Strategic Projects include: Nike, BOC, Westpac, Valspar, Thomas Cook Money and Wattyl

Cec Parnell
Creative Director

With more than 20 years experience as a copywriter, Cec has worked on some of the largest advertising accounts in some of the largest agencies in Australia and overseas.

His brand experience includes such household names as Kellogg’s, Kraft, Nestlé, Qantas and Unilever. His work has been recognised nationally and internationally, with awards including Gold Lion Cannes, Clio, FACTS and London International.

A short film he wrote and co-produced has recently been selected in the 2017 Sydney Film Festival. He also won an award for Best Writer/Screenplay at the 2018 Short+Sweet International Gala Finals.

Mark Sykes
Creative Director

Mark is the founder of Sponge. For more than 20 years he has been delivering creative solutions for some of Australia’s most successful brands, including Coca Cola Amatil, Westfield, Macquarie Bank, American Express, Audi and Heineken.

With experience across a wide range of industries, Mark offers a keen and experienced eye for detail, a strong understanding of the value of strategic planning and an enthusiasm for outstanding creative.

His work has been acknowledged by AWARD and the New York Type Directors Club.
